Facebook: The Google of the Social Networking World.

Facebook.

When is the last time you can think of, in which you didn't hear the word facebook in a full day?

Facebook has been making 2 big additions to its social monopoly by now starting to test/add its own "groupon" feature to its advertisers and also "renting" movies online.

The online movie feature is technology from almost a decade ago, but Warner Bros has launched the first application in which facebook users can download movies directly off their facebook account. The first movie to be released as the test will be the 2nd film in the Batman series "The Dark Night" because facebook users have "liked" the film over 3 million times. The idea behind it is simple; with over 600 million registered users sharing information with their friends, they can now share what movies they are liking and give their opinions on it directly to all their friends.

Warner Bros is starting that application at $3 for a 48 hour rental, of with Mr Zuckerbergs gets 30% ( Atta boy Mark...). They plan to continue to offer more videos and also provide the option of purchasing or downloading them.

Facebook is also starting to use its own daily deal feature to compete with the ever growing wildfire of "daily deal" websites such as groupon and living social. The article that was featured in the L.A. Times says that "
U.S. consumer spending  on daily deal sites is on track to hit $3.9 billion in 2015 from $873 million in 2010, according to research firm BIA/Kelsey". This little trick is sure to increase the size of that advertising office they currently have to one that will be capable to handle the traffic.

The major deal sites such as groupon and living social have millions of customers, but remember, facebook has over 600 million members....

So, when does the monopoly facebook edition board game get released? I'm thinking Christmas 2011...
